Default idle speed changes

My idle speed changes when I stand my sporty up, Ive been working on leaning her out a bit due to the black puffs. any ideas

Could be too lean or too rich still. Are you just leaning it out or are you actually tuning it? When does it puff black smoke? If during blipping the throttle you are going about leaning it out all wrong and in a dangerous manner.

Good point Sorgy. Also could be throttle cables adjusted wrong.

this is my current set up
46 pilot 2 turns out, 1200 needle, 175 main
im seeing a lot of black suut on my axle nut
I figgure that im on the way rich side,cables are adjusted with about an 1/8" play

46 is on the big side for a 883 I personally would go back down to a 45. But that has got nothing to do with the idle speed changing when you stand the bike up. That is float level. Later Sorgy

That is a lot of pilot jet for an 883. How'd it run with the stock 42 pilot and maybe 3 turns out on the idle mixture screw?

But the real issue at this point is that it changes rpms when idling and taking it off the kickstand. And you are sure your cables are adjusted correctly. Does the idle change when turning the handlebars from one side to the other lock to lock? If not, then I'd say listen to Sorgy and check your float level. If you have been into the bottom of the carb a lot tuning, then you may have bumped the float.

I"m still concerned with the idle changing when lifted off the jiffy stand. It idles smoother when upright, going to be using my RB-racing afr gauge when it gets here with my pipe to adjust the jets
