Getting hitched in Vegas
My girlfriend and I have decided to get married. We live in Ireland but are coming to the U.S. in July for a vacation. We will be in Las Vegas for the weekend in the middle of our trip and we are getting married there.
Has anyone else done the same?

Las Vegas is very marriage friendly you can get married on just about every other street corner you have choices, you can be married by Elvis (a elvis impersonator) get married in a drive through chapel. Even do a "theme" wedding like dressing up in old time cowboy clothes.
Myself, never been married, can't get past the obey thing.
besides the longest sentence a man ever does is after he says "I do"
here is the Elvis wedding chapel there are several
http://www.elvischapel.com/?gclid=CK...FQ8bawodeU9BZg
and the drive thru again there are several.

Watch for "extras" on the packages, figure out much you want to or can afford to spend. Getting married is an emotional affair logic does not come into play on this
Figure how much you really want for pictures etc. My advice spend the money for a proper album, not just a CD or DVD thinking you will make up your own later, get the album up front you will not be disappointed this is the one big reminder of that day.
CD's degrade after five years, Albums a lifetime.
And before you ask no I don't photograph weddings and for me to go to Vegas the costs are too high for the type of wedding your planning.
do bring your own camera.

Well, Ok....
Yes I did get married in Vegas. Girl wound up cheating, as many do, and the subsequent annulment (get out of marriage free card) was very welcomed. I did have a great time in Vegas, though.
Seems like getting a cute girl to cheat is like dropping bread crumbs in front of a duck.
If you want to gamble, I'd suggest dropping quarters in a slot machine. The odds are better in my opinion.

I go to Las Vegas sometimes, but that's not where I got married. We thought about it, but we had a similar wedding here in town at a place called The Little Wedding Chapel. Nice place to have a wedding ... and cheap. Since we paid for the wedding ourselves we thought to either go to Las Vegas and do it, or do it here. Here it cost less than a grand, and that's including flowers, music, photography, and everything normally associated with a wedding except the reception. You'll have a good time regardless.

I feel I ought to put in a bit of background....
We've been together 3 years now, we're both the wrong side of 45 and are both divorced, we have grown up families and what remain of our parents are in their 80s.
When we first got together in 2007 we said then that we'd like to get married in Vegas as we don't really want a lot of fuss or expense.
We've booked the Gracelands wedding chapel for the 1st of August!
We'll have a party for family and friends when we get home....
