Go check the 'Gun Talk' section, where this thread should eventually get moved.

Wrong forum.
Some of the rules of a CCW is carry in stealth.
Out of sight. Not telling everyone you have a CCW.
In some states, that's a fast way to lose the CCW.

I carry a Springfield GI 1911, I converted it to a flat main spring housing, commander style hammer and an appropriate grip safety to accept the new hammer. I however live in Vt, so concealed carry and open carry are both un licensed, so my gun is seen when the wind blows my shirt up a bit I am not too worried.

I really like my Taurus PT140 .40 S&W. However, I recommend going to a gunshop and seeing what CCW type handgun will fit in your hand. I was sold on getting a Glock until I actually put it in my hand and realized it just didn't feel right to me. The Taurus fit really well in my hand, was nearly half the price of the Glock, has a lifetime warranty, and typically gets positive reviews.
I chose a .40S&W over a 9mm or .45 because it was designed for law enforcement. It has characteristics of a 9mm (range, velocity, shooting ease), but also has stopping power more closely resembling a .45. Some people will argue this because you can slant numbers depending on what loads you use with each.

Wyoming is legal open carry also. I just got tired of the holster banging into and hanging up on stuff. I guess for me the CCW is just a means of being more comfortable.

the one you shoot the best and will carry every day it does you know good to get a gun that is not comfortable becuse you wont cary it. You have to find out what that is for you for me it is a glock but as someone said the glock dosnt fit them so go to a shop that you can rent guns from and fine the one that works for you

Had a Glock 27 sub compact. Nice pistol, but it was like carrying a brick in your pants. Not very concealable IMO, and it was so noticeable people would comment on it. I now carry my wifes Taurus .38 snub nose, 815 I think, it's a seven shot not the standard 5, loaded with Hydra shocks(??). It is more comfortable beleive it or not then the Glock was. My uncle who is really into the whole carrying thing, carries/carrys a kahr 9mm, awesome gun, seriously. Slim as hell, barely know its there and shoots close range really tight.
