Looking into a springer seat, need some help
Hey all,
I'm planning on installing a springer seat on my 2010 883N, but I'm not too sure which one to go with. I did a bit of searching but wasn't able to find this question specifically (if it exists, I apologize).
I am looking for a springer that does not drive you forward to the tank as much as the official Harley released seat. I like the look of the HD made springer seat, but I can't stand the angle it offers and how it pushes you to the tank.
Does anyone have a suggestion on a springer seat setup (preferably the seat and plate) that has more of a level position? I do not have the tools or ability to fabricate much of anything (I can make minor modifications if needed, but that's about it), so I am looking for bolt on kits that include everything I will need.
Thanks!

Lick's slim line solo seat is the besti have seen. I use on my 08 1200N and i love it. The bracket was mounting was easy only minutes to install.

Agreed (Mine was on a 2005, but it was a real quick install and I logged about 25,000 miles on that seat.)

Check out HD's. The stealer is a little expensive but would probably be a direct bolt on with no modifications. I have one on my 08 1200 Nightster. i would'nt think there is any difference between the 883 and 1200 (frame wise).

+1 on the licks slim line solo.At first I got the biltwell, great seat but it just looked a little big for my taste on my iron.AJ at Licks traded it out no problem. There hardware kit will work with many different seats complete blot on ,the springs are a PITA to install though.

How much does adding a spring seat to a 1200N change the seat height? I really like where I sit and don't want to be any higher. Hell, if I could stand it, I'd sit right on the frame. I like it low.

Stock seat will sit a little lower. May be a few inches at most I would think

That's what I figured, and I'd notice even an inch or two. It feels like a big difference to me from the stock seat to my Badlander 2-up. That's why the stock goes right back on after she's done riding with me for a while. I'm not sure where to relocate the ECM anyway, so I'd have to figure that out before I went ahead and got a sping seat.

Hi guys sorry for the stupid questions. I ve got the Iron series where HD already moved the ECM so I dont need any relocation of it. However I ve got 2 questions concerning the Lick's slim line solo seat. How does it attaches at the front ? Will I need to do some modifications on the frame ? Does the Licks seat comes with some installing kit ?
On what are the springs resting please ?
Thanks

I have a 2010 Iron as well No modification at at .They supply a front bracket almost a t bracket that bolts right on.In the rear its a steel bracket that the springs rest on .That bolts right onto a little tab that the stock seat slides into. Its a very , very easy install. The hardest part is attaching the springs to the seat and the bracket (its not hard its just a PITA) The 2" coil srings are wound so tight there is no room to work.I switched to a set of V twin 3" springs much ,much easier.Plus its a better ride ,more cushion when using hard tail struts like myself
