ROAD KING or DYNA'S -- Convince me!
Hey Guys and Gals,
Here is my delima and the reason I started this lil here thread! I am just not sure what would be better for me and my riding! First off I will let ya'll know I am usually on the city streets of Dallas with the here and there of short freeway bursts! I have crappy stock rear shocks (dont truly know age) and 10w fork oil with crappy springs in the forks. I have heard the great stories about the RK's air shocks and how wonderful they are from stock! I have read great things about the dyna's and how just "going up a bike size" usually makes the difference. But which is better! What are there pros and cons? So I have decided to deal with this in the democratic manner and let each side plea there case and then buy what ever I can find cheapest, LOL no really I want ya'll to convince me of which to ride and why?
Can't wait to see what ya'll come up with!!!

Hey Bone, I think he's just talking about changing shocks, not his bike.
I voted 'other' because I've tried half a dozen different shocks, including Ultima (not H-D) air shocks, and by far the best are the Öhlins S36Es I have now.

I think Road King shocks, because you can adjust the air pressure to suit your load. With your light weight bike most of the time you'll probably need zero psi, and when riding with the gf probably 3 psi. They come in 2 sizes too.

No risk in trying the RK shocks. You can find them on Ebay, not that expensive.
Try 'm. Like 'm ? Cheap solution.
If I should scale the stock shocks of the Sportster I'd 'rate them a 2, scaled from 1-10.
I would give the RK's a 6, maybe a 7. Far, far better then stock.
If you go that route and don't like 'm ....no loss, easy to sell for probably the same $$.
Folkie has tried a lot of shocks, his opinion is valued and XLXR is a known reputable source on the subject of shocks/suspension.
I have WP suspension on my KTM and they are top notch. Ohlins and Progressive might suit you as well.
Good luck.

First I have heard of this!!!! Please tell me what I need and what to look out for! I dont need another paper weight! As now I have three! Two progressive 13.5 (eye hole too big) and 1 dyna' 12.5 that would fit but I only have one!
