Default Springtime. Be safe out there!

Went for an errand ride this morning, and not 2 miles from the house, I saw the results of an accident involving a bike, and a car at an intersection. Cop car pulled in front of us, and traffic was stopped. The helicoptor came within seconds to airlift to hospital.
It's no special day, no particular distractions, good weather and this is a somewhat rural area, with little traffic, so somebody was just not paying attention at all.
I've got a "here today, gone tomorrow" attitude about my own life, but I tend to do things on my bike, that I would never even consider in the car. In the car, I'm an old lady driver, on the bike I can only say that for the most part. Maybe, it's because I'm more comfortable on the bike, not because of some padded seat with hydraulics, like in the car, but because I trust my bike, my judgements, and the freedom of being alive while riding.
At least, that's what I tell myself...It's probably because I'm just an old fool.

Please, be yourself, but catch yourself not paying attention, more often. It's a lonely world sometimes, that's why bikers tend to need other bikers. We all need you to stick around a bit longer.

I drive and ride like I'm in no particular hurry
with no particular place to go but you're right,
the nice weather is here and everyone wants
to enjoy it but ya gotta ride like your invisible
and stay focused.
