here are some pics of the early stage of getting the switches installed into the side cover. let me tell you drilling out those 1/4" holes with one hand on the drill and the other trying hold down the cover was a pain in the arse. keeping it from sliding all around was a bitch.

by the way, in the great state o' texass you only need a hi/lo beam switch and a horn to pass inspection, or so it goes. so for this switch relocation i just added an On/Off toggle for the fuel pump, and two momentary push switches for the horn and starter, and then i had to track down an On/ON toggle switch for the hi/lo beam. ended up finding one at fry's around here, but it has to have the three prongs on the business end. but honestly if i were to do it all over again, i'd solder the fuel pump wires together, and just leaving it on, since i kill the bike by turning the key to Off.

unfortunately in Italy you can't mount the licence plate on the side, only centrally.

i think you mean the speedo mount on the side. i just used this piece from these guys:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ATM-3209/?rtype=10

BUT if you're gonna do this to a 48, you're gonna need to get longer bolts and some extra washers, because when other people did it with their Nightsters or whatever, harley made the speedo cover a bit different. on the 48, it's literally a plastic cup like thing. on the older sportys it's more of a plate. so getting the rubber mount and metal ring to fit around the 48 speedo you gotta pull it apart at the clamp/mount part. and that's where the extra washers and longer bolts come in. just an FYI.
