Default 94+ primary cover on a 93?

has anyone out there tried putting a 94 and up primary cover on a 91 to 93 sporty. i have a 94 and up cover that I got for free and the primary cover on the basket case 93 is cracked. so I was wondering if anyone has tried this and if so what would I need to make it work? thanks in advance

It may fit, but if the service manuals are anything to go by, there was a change after 92. What I mean is that the service manuals cover 91-92, then there was a 93 manual. Or it may have been 91-93 then another for 94 & ^. I had a 91 a long time ago and the manual went when it was sold.

Someone who knows for sure will answer up soon...

My parts manual is '93 and '94. Shows two different part numbers for '93 and '94.

1993 Primary Cover 25439-89
1994 Primary Cover 25430-94

Can't tell what the difference is tho'.

Looks like it can be done. The engine cases are the same for a 93 to 94 so it should bolt on. My parts manual doesn't show different part numbers between the 93 to 94 for the clutch cable, any shifter parts, foot peg and rest. The only other parts that will have to be changed is the clutch release mechanism. My parts book shows that these parts are different---
clutch adjusting screw 11752
inner ramp 25453-87a
outer ramp 25409-94
retaining ring (holds the two ramps together 11250
spring , clutch adjustment 36715-94

The ramp balls are the same for both years. Also the clutch inspection cover is different, much bigger in 94. The chain inspection cover is the same for both years. This is all I could see in my parts books, hope this helps. Roger

forgot to add, this info is for 1993 and 1994. I don't have any info on 91 or 92, but imagine it would be the same.

You know this thread is about a year old. Hopefully he hasn't waited this long for a definite reply.

Not gettin' at you... Just sayin'...

The service manual I mentioned was a factory original and I thought my memory hadn't started failing yet and remembered correctly that the manual was for 91-92 only.
Saying that, I also remember putting the 91 sprocket cover on my 88 as mine was cracked at one of the bolt sleeves inside due to a chain failure.

Thumbs up

Again, I wasn't being critical. I just stated that the OP probably got it worked out. Hopefully, before a year later.

Good to hear that you find all the old info useful. Some forums remove posts that are over a certain age. Not here though.
