Organized group rides by the dealership
Thinking about going on the group ride organized by the dealership that I bought my Sporty from today. Have never done a group ride or even ridden with more than two people. What should I expect?

They will carefully explain the road rules,,,
for a group ride,,, the common Newbie mistake is to "Pogo" as in not holding your interval,,,
Set your distance to one second behind the rider that Is staggerd in front of you and If the group signals single file,,2 second rule..
You'll be fine, ride mid pack if ya can and Tell the first two riders behind you
that this Is your first time.
If ya havta do some serious braking, as In Oh chit,,,look over your shoulder and peel off,,go wide.
Keep your head up and look as far ahead as you can.
If the Interval makes you nervous open It up to 1.5 seconds,,Just try not to "Pogo"
Remember to relax.
you won't be a virgin for long.

Expect to meet a LOT of new people. Don't expect to see a lot of the countryside on your first ride. Concentrate on your stagger (see excellent post above) and check this out (From the MSF) for some tips on group riding:

If you have a GOOD chapter. then you'll enjoy the rides. My dealership has a good chapter for people who actually ride harley's. We have all types of rides. for all types of riders.. It's a good opportunity to meet with like minded people who have a common interest.
