Default Speedometer Wiring?

Ok, for those of us not electrically inclined...
Just changed my mini speedometer to a larger one with the bob style tank. Figured out the cable part, even figured out the hot and ground wires for the light in the speedo housing, but WTF does the green wire do? There are three friggin wires on the harness coming from the bike and there doesn't appear to be any place on the back of the speedometer to attach it to?

Ideas?

If it's a green & white wire, my diagram shows it running to the Turn Signal Canceller Module. If it's an aftermarket speedo, it doesn't have the self-cancelling stuff. So, brace yourself, you'll have to remember to turn your signals off

On the back of the Harley Speedo is a green wire. That is a turn signal cancellor? If so, since I don't have one on the aftermarket speedo, problem solved. thx.

I'm looking at a diagram for 91-94 models, and there are 3 wires coming off the speedo: orange/hot, black/ground, & green & white/turn signal cancell. So yeah, that must be it. Good luck.

I am not sure if I am in the right forum. I am adding a tachometer to my 2007 Sportster 833. The only connection I need to make is the pink wire which is the lead that connects to the speedometer however I am not sure which position it goes in. There are three empty spaces in the connector but I can't remove the protective caps that are on the connector. Can anyone help me? Anyone have a diagram? Thanks!

The forum is OK but this is a speedometer thread.

Try a search on "883 custom tach" or if that doesn't work start a new thread of the same name.

By the way, welcome from OHIO.
