Default '78 hardtail to '80?????

Hey guys!

I did a google search for a hardtail kit for my '80 Ironhead. No luck. I searched this forum and about a year and half ago Fastmoto said he was going to weld on an earlier kit to his '80, but the pics no longer exist. I've seen the '57-'78 hardtail kits (weld-on) out there for a decent price. How difficult would it be to modify the kit for my '80? Has anyone out there done that for an '80 Ironhead? Is it worth the $$$ and time? I'm not an accomplished welder so I'd probably my buddy do it.

Cheers!

find a decent coustom shop and get them to make a hard tail out of your existing frame or buy a complete custom frame would be teh easiest solution

I don't think hard tail kits exist for 79 - 81 frames

The Kansas kustom hardtail's look nice, but they're kinda pricey. $385. You can buy a brand new Paughco frame for the ironhead for around $600. Even less if you watch ebay closely. Also, the aftermarket frames for the Evo sporty's can be made to work with the ironhead too, with only a few minor modifications.
