Default Harley Prices Up or Down?

Here in the UK there have been various articles in the popular motorcycling press stating price reductions, by quite large amounts on the bigger models, but also £100 on sportster models such as the 883R & Nightster. Oh goodie I thought, a price reduction won't hurt.

However on turning to the MoCo website for the UK, I saw prices are actually UP by those amounts. Annoying at the very least.

So what are prices doing in your neck of the woods?

Andy

Ordered mine from dealer in 2003 (Sport 1200S) and paid list $9995. I see prices ain't moved much over the past eight years for basic 1200 Low ($9899 list). The current "hot bike" is XL1200X listed at $11,799. I am not sure whether I am ahead or behind with fuel injection rubbermount cost-cutting builds these days.

Cool In the USA

Over here most all 2010's are $1,000 off,,they do that
about this time every year.
New for this year, some dealers are offering a few extras with the 1,000 off.
Stuff like a free Jacket or helmet or a free 1,000 mile service,,even seen a free
5,000 mile service offer on the big dollar bikes.
There are 2009 sportsers left at many dealers,,Most are Base model 883's
They are going for $6999 Most Customs are gone since they are not In the 2011 Line up.

As far as used bikes, around here most people are asking about $2,000 above blue book. I was able to find one for less than blue book and bought it ASAP. It's a bad economy and I don't think anything is selling, I've seen the same bikes for sale for several months, but they won't take any less.
I picked up a bike trader rag and the ads are like this= 2004 sportster $5,995, "SAVE $195 NOW!". Blue book is about $4,440 on that. WTF? Save $195 off of what exactly? Put down the crack pipe bro! I'm tempted to call and bust their chops about it.

Just picked up a '98 883 in Ohio for $2300. Needs tires and voltage reg. Other than that it's in darn good shape. 8500 miles on the clock.

Don't expect price reductions from Harley. That's not how they operate. They keep prices where they want via controlling supply.

Plus, they don't want an "inexpensive bike" reputation. They want to be known for premium bikes at like prices.

selling is tough- it does surprise me the separation in price between rubber and rigid has closed right up
