Default cut down custom riser today

I had already cut down a 2003 custom riser. It looked great, but didn't have a good place to put the speedo with the 4.5 gal tank. So i cut down my stock 2007 custom riser. I know it has already been done by a few people on here. But I figured I would share anyway. I cut the riser down 2.5" you kinda have to cut it at an angle to get it to sit right. Then I drilled and tapped it useing the cut off piece as a guide for the hole placement. That left the wires and brake line a little long it would have worked just fine, but I had a set of nightster handle bars laying around so I put those on. They have about 1-1.5" of extra rise in the bars. So it took up the extra slack in the brake line and wires. Plus it gave me enough extra room to flip my mirrors. Here are some pics of the finished product. I didn't take pics while doing it sorry.

Looks good!!!

I also cut mike but I didn't cut it on an angle like you said you did. Mine sits more upright but I can still see my speedo just fine...

I cut mine on a large bandsaw at work.
I used the same bolts that came from the factory, just drilled and tapped the hole to same size.

Yeah I cut mine with a hack saw very slow and careful. Checked it with a 2" tick piece of plate steel to check it on when I cut mine sure it was true. Used the cut off piece to line up the new holes drilled and tapped them and reused the original bolts. Just be careful when you cut through the chrome, same if you use a file to true it up or you will lift the chrome on the edges. Use the riser bolts and clamp bolts to hold the riser still in a vise and it makes it pretty easy. One thing to remeber is the brake lines and wires will be long once you cut some height off the riser. No big deal. I put nightster bars on mine when I cut it down. The nightster bars are slightly taller and wider. So it made it just the right length. And looks better, but keeps my hands in about the same place they originaly were.

Nice "personalization", and black and chrome is always a good look. Best wishes for the Holiday season.
