If ya don't have'em, and you wanna ride NOW, you can probably reuse them....happened to me...but unless they look pretty original, at SOME point you'll want to chang'em...

They are the muliti layer metal SE high performance gaskets. I just talked to a local motocross racer that knows a ton about bikes, he said I should not have to replace the gaskets, to loosen the head bolts to 8 lbs and then re torque them and due the 90 degree turn.

But because its only doing this under load then goes away even when riding, so its only making this noise under load, he thinks its too lean and told me to go to a bigger main. Wich for some reason last time it was dyno tuned , they put a 155 in it. I will re torque the head bolts and throw a 165 in it and see if that does it.

Re-torque the bolts and ride it and see what it runs like. You cant judge jetting with loose heads. If you hear sounds like a hammer hitting tin when you try to accelerate, it is "pinging", "spark knock", "detonation", whatever you want to call it. If so, back the timing off a few degrees. I'm gonna guess you didn't hurt the gaskets unless you rode it a long way.

Early 87-883/1200 conversion. Wife's bike. SE heads, 1200 flat pistons, 40" Drag Pipes, everything else stock.

My god a 155 main with the exhuast and carb you have, 165 at least and I would say one richer needle as well, maybe the 4 th slot on that needle as well , but try the middle slot first. Have you read the carb tuning section . It will help. I have a 42 with a open exhaust I run a 167.5 with the next richer needle on the middle slot. I have the cams and a 3 inch hurricane , But check the plug there is a plug chart as well on this site.
Good luck dude

I dont htink that the head gaskets have anything wrong with them, I know the 155 is small, thats been determined already as I stated in my last post, and I know how to look at my plugs, they look fine, Like I stated already I will re torque my heads and tune the carb a bit, and unless aswrascing tell me to do anything different , I think this will work, I have talke to two good mechanics locally and have been told what to fo. Thanks for the help and advice.
