My 21 inch front wheel with a ME880 tire does great in the twisties. Your choice of tire will have a bigger impact than the wheel size. Sounds like you need to give eBay a browse to see what is available now. I'm sure you would be happy with a 19 inch mag. Just be sure you put good rubber on whatever you choose.

90 miles on a bent rim>? glad you are still here to post about it!
I was thinking the stock 21 was about 300 and another 120 for a new metzler installed. $604 seems awfully steep unless there are other things broken.

afterthought: cant you just buy a hoop and lace her back up? Re-use your hub and all that?

You made me curious about the price. The stock laced wheel is part number 43557-05 with a msrp of $410.
The stock mag wheel is part number 43338-00 with a msrp of $313.
The laced stock wheel is much more expensive than the mag.
The profiled laced wheel is part number 44610-05 with a msrp of $475.
(all of this was from my '05 parts catalog)
Edit: The 21 inch hoop is part number 43662-80B with a msrp of $135.

If it was so much fun riding it home like this why not keep it.

Before you spend all kinds of money, why not check E-Ghey for 21" or 19" wheels at the 1/3 of the cost of new.
I just can't justify giving H-D $$$ 6 bills for a new wheel!!
