I used my Scavenger today.
I purchased the Rogue Chopper Oil Scavenger system for my Sporty and used it for the first time today. Here are links to the video instructions to explain it much better than I can.
http://www.roguechopper.com/video_sportster_install.htm
http://www.roguechopper.com/products..._Kit_RC130.htm
Installation was easy, and at least for my rubbermount, it wasn't necessary to take off the rear exhaust like their video instructions tell you to do. I had plenty of room to cut out a 1/2" piece from the oil return line. Also, instead off feeding the "scavenge" drain hose to the left side of the bike in back of the primary, I snaked it down the middle, next to the regular drain oil drain hose and routed it to the right side of the frame to the bottom frame tube. I picked up a new plastic OEM drain plug for my Sportster ($5.30) that has the round clamp built in and used it instead of their drain plug so I can clamp the scavenge drain hose to the frame just like the oil drain hose, but on the right side. It works great!
I didn't use the clamps they supplied either, opting for the worm gear type since I didn't have the right tool to squeeze their clamps tight and didn't want to take a chance of having a leak. I instead purchased stainless steel clamps from Advance Auto for about $2.00.
It works as advertised! After installation of the "T" fitting and scavenge hose, I rode my bike for a 10 miler to warm it up. I put my bike on the lift and drained the oil tank. I removed the oil filter, (I have an NRHS Hurricane filter), and installed the scavenger "puck"....(see video). I filled the oil tank with 3 qts. of fresh 20w-50 AmsOil and clamped the return oil line right behind the "T" fitting installed for the scavenger drain hose with the forceps provided in the kit. I started the bike and ran off oil till it showed clean oil. The Scavenger system true to advertisement pushed out about 24 ounces of dirty oil till the oil ran clean. I opted to keep running till I drained off exactly 1 qt., making it easier to just refill the oil tank with a complete qt. I put the new drain plug I bought on the scavenge hose, tightened the clamp and snapped it on the bottom frame tube. I then removed the "puck" which showed very clean oil, cleaned my oil filter and put clean oil in it from the "new" qt., spun it on and torqued to 20 ft/lbs. I then put the remainder of the qt. in the tank and removed the forceps clamp on the return line......done!
It's interesting to note that the scavenge side of the oil pump doesn't seem to push a constant flow at idle. I know the scavenge side of the pump has a higher pumping capacity than the pressure side and the scavenge pump pushed out the sump contents in dribs and drabs as if it was waiting for the oil to accumulate and then pump it. I sped up the idle and the flow was more constant. It didn't take too long to pump out a quart so it looks like the oil in our bikes circulates pretty quickly, especially at higher rpms!
Here's a pic of the "T" fitting provided in the kit. I used worm type clamps instead of the clamps provided.
This is the proof!.....The pumped out dirty oil...about 24 ounces of dirty oil mixed with 8 ounces of clean oil! The new oil plug I bought for the scavenge oil hose can be seen to the right.
All in all, it was easy and now I have a "TOTAL" oil change in the motor and will from now on. The other cool thing is my buddy has a Softtail Custom and we split the cost of the "puck" since we can both use it. He only had to buy the supplemental kit for his bike without the "puck"....a huge savings for both of us.

Took a decent ride and checked oil level on return....yep, it looks cleaner than after a change the old way.

Yeah, you're probably right. All the puck does is provide a straight through route to flow the oil without filtering. If you could somehow gut a filter it would do the same thing. The puck is nice though, made from billet aluminum but all in all it's only a tool.

I'm pretty sure the "puck" fits on a lot of bikes. Maybe not the Dyna because the oil tank is different.

According to the website it looks like the puck for the Evos is different than for the Twin Cam A and Bs and the Sporties.

I've also got a 'scavenger' kit. Very pleased with mine. It works well. I've had several 'dry sump' bikes before but the Sporty seems to hold more 'old' oil in the system than any of them when doing an oil change. Mine doesn't wet sump at all, there really is a lot of oil left in the engine after draining the tank.
