Andrews Low Profile Lower Spring Collar P/N 277160
I figured i would make a thread w/ some info on these, incase anyone needs the specifics in the future.
Drag Specialties P/N DS-199727
It seems there will be an extra .070" Inner and .088" Outer spring travel using the Low Profile Andrews P/N 277160 instead of the stockers.
This is of course assuming the Andrews lower collar sits on the head.
Did you measure the guide flange thicknesses?
Low profile on right.

Here is scaled sketch and its worse than I thought, especially drawn next to the stock part.
If only Andrews incorporated some of that lower angle, like the stock one has it would make for a much stouter piece.
To make it even worse....
I dropped one of the AP on a early head I have.
Like DR. DICK pointed out, the early heads spring pockets dont have the machined face for the collars to sit against.
But, the early heads have a raised nub where the guide bore is machined, this gives the stock and Andrews lower collars enough clearance to sit ON the guide flange(on these 900 heads anyway).
They definitely dont look great from a engineering aspect, but
Im wondering if Andrews has had any issues w/ these collars?
Im sure they have sold a couple hundred sets, right?

Cycle warehouse has to be seen to be believed. It's an old department store like they had in the 40's and 50's. right on Main St in downtown Butler Pa. Looks like a swap meet exploded inside but if they don't have it, they will direct you to someone that does.
Sorry to go off track a little Chevelle, but that joint is one of a kind.
