Default Went down yesterday.

If this is the wrong section, I'm sorry and please move. It's hard to navigate on my phone.

So yesterday I'm riding back roads around Annapolis. I was pushing a little but not much as I'm still new to riding and that derrecho brought a lot of trees down and sand to the road. I was cruising along and started thinking about Tiggerstock and that I should head over to the dealership and order a detachable sissy bar so I could strap down some stuff. Now, there are a lot of big trucks roaming around that are here to help get power back on to people that are also from out of state. I was coming into a turn and saw one of these trucks coming out of a side road. I was concerned that he didn't see me so I started to brake. In the turn a bunch of things went wrong.
I took my eyes off the road.
I was going too fast.
There was sand in the road.
So instead of pressing down and trying to ride it out I braked too hard. Locked the brakes up. Stood the bike up and went wide into a ditch. I was still up in the ditch until for some reason there was a pile of small boulders in the ditch. I hit those and went down hard.
So, laying in the ditch I managed to get my phone, took my helmet off and looked on the map app to see where I was. I then called my wife and told her where I was and to head to the Annapolis ER. Then I called 911 and then I called HD to come get my bike. Fire, police and EMTs showed up. I could see my foot was flopping around.
45 mins later I was on my way to the ER.
Get X-rays and I have "spiral fractures" of the upper tibia and lower fibula. The upper is a clean break. The lower is in pieces. They said it was good because the bones never broke the skin.

So, here I sit at home with a temp splint cast. I go to the Orthopedic surgeon tomorrow to get a surgery date.

All done, I have two broken bones, rash on my arm, rib cage and a smashed up shoulder. They said the shoulder is okay but I cannot lift my arm. Not a scratch on my helmet.

I have no idea what shape my bike is in. All I saw was the handle bars had dented my tank. I'm pretty upset about my bike. I won't be able to ride until sometime in September.
Thanks for reading.

If anyone wants to. I'm on FB. It's easier to post pics and such there.

I have been there, and its going to be tough, but glad you are semi-ok.

And you pointed out another huge reason as to why you should always keep your cell phone on you

Damn Auck....that sucks to hear that you laid the sporty down. Like everyone has said...the good thing is that you are here to still tell us about what happened. The sporty can be fixed....luckily you can be too in this case.

Hope you heal quickly and keep us updated on how you are doing.

Glad you are good to get going after healing, your bike is just a bike no matter what! It's replaceable.

Heal up fast and get back in the saddle again, thats what real bikers do - heal up and ride again! On a Harley of course

Sorry to hear about your bike. Glad to hear your fixable. Just keep in mind that sooner or later, just about, everyone goes down. You've got yours out of the way now. Heal up, then worry about the bike. Oh, and from experience, keep an eye on that shoulder. They aren't always right. Good luck!
