more specifically what this means to you is, worn or damaged piston rings or valve guides overly worn allowing too much oil into the combustion chamber. when you/he starts it up watch the exhuast first.

Ok. Tomorrow is the chosen day to go look at the '84.
It's amazing how cheap renting a uhaul motorcycle trailer is for 9 hours : $14.95. Not a bad deal....even if I don't buy it.
Here is the standing list of things to check out. If there is anything else anyone thinks of please let me know. If I bring it home, this will be bike number four in the garage. What the hell am I thinking?
The List :
Make sure the title matches the FRAME #.
Deduct for leaks.
Deduct for points.
Deduct for broken stuff on carb (choke mech)
Deduct for rust or battery acid damage
Deduct for non factory finishes on cases.
Deduct for drag pipes. (Unless stock headers are included)
Deduct for cut wires
Deduct for worn out tires.
Deduct for loose worn out chain / sprockets
Deduct for smoke coming out of the exhaust
(what this means to you is, worn or damaged piston rings or valve guides overly worn allowing too much oil into the combustion chamber. when you/he starts it up watch the exhuast first.)
Deduct for unknown mileage? (speedo was put on by PO)
Asking price is $2,200.00 / includes bags & front fender.
Again, thank you in advance for any offered help.

Offer him less than $2200, and if it runs and is rideable, myself, I'd buy it.

$1,550.00 Later, it's already in parts in my garage.
Thanks for the input!
