Default Sportster 72 exhaust ???

So there's a new 1200V Sportster 72 sitting in my garage with 9 miles on it. Absolutely beautiful machine except for the exhaust. I've heard mopeds sound better!!!. So how about some opinions on upgrades. I'm leaning towards V&H Straightshot slip ons. What will changing the exhaust do to my warranty?

Ask your dealer. It may, it may not. Also if they fit it, they'll be more likely for it to not affect the warranty. Local laws also change warranties.

Where I work, people change a lot of stuff on their cars and things are still covered under warranty. But it can't of caused the fault for us to cover it. And even if it does, there still may be a partial warranty.

I like the exhaust on mine. I think I might leave it stock.

Really? Mine is way too quiet and doesn't sound anything at all like a Harley.
I did have a friend tell me I should give it about 500 miles and the see how it sounds.

I had the stock exhaust on for 20,000 miles. It does improve over time, but not by a great deal. But there is something to be said for the stealth of the stock mufflers, you can get away with a lot more than with the straight shots I have now.

My buddy just got one and his only mod is the V&H Straightshots-Slip ons. And i am jealous. I have an 03 xl1200c with the Straightshots full exhaust and his sounds way better! I switched my baffles to BCT Thundermonsters and his is still louder/better.... I don't really get it.

I also recommend the Bassani, they have a good deep rumble when you twist the grip, but aren't obnoxious either.. Made in USA, and ordered through and installed by dealer, warranty intact..

To me, Vance and Hines Straight Shot slip ons sound obnoxiously harsh and metallic and they give up power in the lower rpm range. Why not try a pair of H-D SE SP mufflers which will not affect your warranty? Another alternative is to wait until your warranty is expired then do what you want with a new EFI controller and exhaust or you can take your chances with your warranty with your dealer.
