Default 2004 Sporty from the 2007 Iron Butt Rally

Saw this 04 Sporty in the Wheels Through Time Museum in NC. It ran in the 2007 Iron Butt Rally and finished 3rd, highest finish of any Harley

I was there with Chris. This bike was pretty incredible. I took a few pics to as there are a few ideas that I'd like to adapt for myself.

I read the write-up of how it was put together in the IronButt magazine a year or two ago but didn't expect to see it in the museum. It was pretty cool.

Surprisingly it was missing the left side cover

Yes, that's a FXDXT fairing on it also.

Cool pics Chris! Be interesting to know what kind of suspension mods the builder used to support all the extra weight.

The article in the Iron Butt magazine did not mention any suspension mods. He did add the 4.5 gallon tank plus the aux fuel tank

That is a complete FXDXT front end, purposly mounted for that run. Brett Donahue, my hero, chose the Sportster as it and the V-Rod are the only H.D.'s that you can do a drivebelt change out on the side of the road. On B.T's it requires pulling the primary.
