Default any computer guinesses on here?

I want to record 90 + minutes of songs on a CD.
The largest capacity blank CD I can find is 80 minutes.
So I got a 120 minute blank DVD-RW disc.
When I burned the songs on it my computer said that it would only be able to be played on a computer with a DVD drive.
I did try it in the truck and the playing flashed "check your CD" and spit it out.
What can I do or get to allow me to burn 90 minutes of audio on a disc?
thanks

Convert them to MP3s and then burn to CD. This is assuming your CD player in your truck can play MP3s.

A dvd will only work in a DVD drive. Think of it as trying to put a CD on a record player and trying to listen to it.

Not sure I can help with burning 90 minutes of songs on a CD since I don't burn music that much.

Perhaps trying to record them in another format that will work in your CD player ? I am assuming they are MP3s. See what other formats the CD player will read.

Or see if your burner has an option to burn as a lower quality so they take up less space?

Like already stated, most CD players only read CD format disks and not DVD. You need to compress your music files to get 90 minutes on an 80 minute cd format. What file type format are they in? What program are you using to burn the cd?

I got tired of making cd's for my truck so I bought a new stereo for my truck that has a USB port and I run a USB powered 100 GB portable hard drive in my truck and I have about 400 or 500 full CD's stored on it. The head unit allows me to browse or search the library. I can also build playlists. When I want a change, I take it out of my glove box hook it up to my computer and change it then put it back in the glove box and presto new music or playlists or whatever. Plus it allowed me to now store all my music on the portable HD and not on my computer. I do have it backed up on a second HD in the house though which I can access through my playstation3 which is hooked into my home theater. I like music

that's what I'm talking about... It's all greek to me.
I downloaded the songs that make up the Beatles' White Album. They all have .mp3 extensions and together amount to exactly 90 minutes.
It is the only Beatles CD I do not have. That is why I wanted to make a CD. To complete my set.
How do you "compress" a file?

Merc, your burning program is probably reconverting them to WAV file and making an audio CD. What you want to burn it as is a data CD so it keeps the mp3 files intact. Now you need to find out if your truck CD player can play mp3s.

What's the name of the program you're using to burn the disks?

If they are in mp3 format your truck player must be able to read them, Find the manual and figure that out first. Secondly once in mp3 format they are as compressed as I'd want to get them. Are you using Windows Media Player to burn the cd? If your truck can't play mp3's then you have to get the original cd back and copy the files in original WAV file format and then copy to the cd.

Yes bigjnsa is right.
Just so you know mp3 files are compressed audio files.

If your truck can't play MP3s, you could always get a small iPod.
