well, I did find that if I wanted any tuning work done at the dealer they 'strongly recommend' the power-commander V and they're 'certified' dynojet tuners. I think I could actually get a 15% off deal through them since I bought the bike there. I'll have to compare that to online prices.
My Indy shop recommends the Thunder-Max but prices on that thing our insane. They said they get discounts on it so I may have to get a quote, but if it's a couple hundred more I don't think I could justify it. It would be nice to have a closed loop system with 3 yr. warranty but...price hurts a bit
Any more comments on the V&H Comp exhaust....I went through the sticky and almost every person w/ V&H had the short shots, or sideshots (which give almost no backpressure). Atleast the Comp pipes are 2-1, but the reason I like them is their short profile and shaped heatsshield

The V and H produts aren't great on making power, if that is a goal look else where, if looks are more important go with V and H.

Are you also including in your comment the V&H Competition exhaust?

Hey Andy, that's a pretty good plug for them knowing the rash of sh t they gave you.

I would rather pay $400 for a SERT than install a free PC3 or a free Harley version. I don't trust the Mastertune autotune stuff but it does get you close enough for most applications in a few hours.

traction or wheelie limited acceleration, a sound that just drips testosterone or peace of mind that
everything is as perfect as you know how to make it.

When the racers get done doing the impossible the engineers get a chance to correct the errors in the model.

Thanks for the feedback Whittlebeast...just curious if you feel the same about the PCV as you do of the PCIII?

and the prices I saw on your link were a bit more than $400...do they have better deals if you call?

PCV is a little better if you get the self tune stuff but it still has a fetal flaw. No data logging.

It may be $425. I don't really remember. A few guys discount it a little.

Hey Andy have you actually tried the V-tune autotuning software on the new versions of SERT? It's been a while since I've read any updates from you, but I thought last time I asked you hadn't actually tried it yet and didn't want to update your software (though that was a while ago).
I've been reading a few different threads around the place lately of folks that have autotuned with the V-tune from TTS and then had their bikes dyno tuned by "experienced" tuners who haven't been able to improve on the V-tunes. Haven't seen it or tried it myself yet so take all I read with a grain of salt... but seems to me the TTS's VTune is doing pretty well.

edited....did some research and found that the TTS guys are the same ones that originally made the SERT for H.D.....but have done their own upgrades now

a lot of people (non sportster riders included) are preferring the TTS to Dynojet or Thundermax

they are different things. power commander is a piggyback device that works with the original ECM, SERT/TTS are reprogrammers for the original ECM, and thundermax is an 'open' replacement for the factory ECM.

I have the power commander. it is neat and user friendly, but useless for heavy engine work or a 1250 conversion, IMO (unless you also 'convert' your factory ECM somehow).

cheers
