200 horse and turbo + the heat of street riding on a sporty. would not be a good mix......but for sure could be done.

Up for debate, if you have turbo lag you are not driving it right ~Carroll Shelby
...turbo also is better for the engine and more likely to get his power numbers since just using waste exhaust, a supercharger is wasting energy and putting alot more stress on the crank, but it is the easy way out.

Turbo is only silly hot when you are flogging the hell out of it, there is no difference between the EGTs of an exhaust pipe of a well tuned NA motor VS the EGTs of the turbo charger when both are under full throttle, they both get just as hot and a turbo stays relatively cool when driving in normal traffic. I have glowed a few turbos of mine before though

Again not true, a well tuned engine running a turbo, the turbo will usually last the life of the engine, my turbo in my last car had 148K HARD miles on it when it gave up the ghost. Turboes can last forever if you take care of them, let them cool down, let them warm up when shutting down the bike or starting it up (respectively)
A turbo in a sporty will NOT be working hard at all. I still think a turbo would be a very viable option, and likely the most realistic, especially since you can dial the boost back and run pump gas or dial it up for even more power onr acew fuel, ona high compression motor you are stuck running race gas all the time, plus a low compression turbo motor will be making LESS heat at idle and lower power settings..IE: around town.
Have you owned or worked on any turbo vehicles? Just curious.

again i don't disagree with you. like you said well tuned. at 200hp your tuning becomes very important. if you think the heat generated by the now 200hp vtwin will not dramaticaly increase your wrong. so your tune up better be dead on.................one rattle and that motor will grenade. so my point is on the strip where you can control the bikes temp and tuning....GREAT. but on the street where you can't control traffic or lights and the heat of the bike. you have the potential for trouble.

i have 3 turbo drag suzukis two pushing 450hp and one promod pushing 575hp,.....absolutely JAPs have there shit together i work on them all and i ride them all. by far japs got us whupped. BUT i LOVE my harley it rides rougher rides slower and i work on it twice as much. but for some unknown reason i would not trade it for the fastest jap there is. what i wanted to do is build a custom and build it similar to a drag bike with tubular frame and aluminum fuel cells. and unless some wild thing happens i HAVE to get turbo i just love it and i see toomany drag bikes suffer on NOS and we still strut on with our turbos. the only reason i did not call NHRS first is because this is a future project and right now i do not have the dough and didn't want to waste hisa time till i ready.... also i was curious int nallins post he showed a dyno chart with over 200hp but the tourque falls fast how come? and what was done to this motor? also sorry to start such a fire with all this just curious. i think i can build and turbo the motor i want for about 15,000.

1st thing I would do is start with a set of S&S cases. After that, I'd talk to NRHS and let them use the knowledge that they have to make it right the first time.
I think a Sportster's streetability ends around 150hp. Anything after that requires a LOT of upkeep. Probably frequest teardowns too.
Wy are you looking for hp if it's going to be more like a drag bike? Why don't you look for 150+ ft. lbs. of torque? HP is only necessary to carry the bike through higher speeds. Torque will get you down the track or ahead of the people you want to embarress fast enough where you won't need extreme hp numbers.
